Blue Order and ProSieben Information Service GmbH (a subsidiary of ProSieben Media AG), have developed a fully integrated newsroom environment that provides browsing and archiving facilities for ProSieben News, Kabel 1 News and N24, a 24 hours news channel that was launched in January 2000. The system is based on Blue Order's Media Archive Enterprise Media Management platform.

The system was designed with on-line storage capacity for approximately 8,500 hours of preview quality video (MPEG-1) in a Grau AML/2 robotic digital tape library. The system also includes an audio archive with a capacity of 2,375 hours, stored in WAV and 128kb/s MP-3 formats.

The Media Archive applications enable news editors to view incoming material as soon as it has been annotated. The system incorporates standard Media Archive features including keyframe storyboards and video and audio browsing.

EDLs created using the Media Archive Browsing Client can be transferred to a Quantel Editbox for editing of production quality video material.

The encoders of the browse system and the Quantel Clipbox are controlled by a Harris Louth automation system. The automation system has been integrated with the Media Archive system to control the flow of production quality video and to migrate HiRes video from the Quantel Clipboxes to the digital tape library. The system was installed in January 2000 and has been the subject of a phased roll out.

ProSieben Media AG was the third-largest private broadcasting organisation in Germany until its merger with Kirch­owned SAT. 1 created ProSieben/SAT.1 AG. The Kirch group has now pooled together its news operations in Berlin, and therefore the ProSieben Media Archive System has been integrated with the SAT.1 Media Archive System described below.
