Latest feature set of Media Archive 3.1 comprises
| Services-Oriented Architecture: all Media Archive services are implemented as Web services accessible via SOAP interfaces facilitating integration with third-party and legacy systems and allowing for the adaption to different workflows.
| User-Configurable Data Models: system administrators are enabled to customize the Media Archive data model using Data Management Configurator, a backoffice tool, with just a few mouse clicks. Different content types (video, audio, images, documents, others) and content genres (news, sports, politics) can be defined and for each content genre, a specific set of data elements (attributes, strata) can be configured.
| User-Configurable Workflows: Media Archive Workflow Management automates machine-based workflows and supports human workflows, making workflows more efficient, more transparent and easier to trace.
| Web-based Multichannel Scheduling: Multichannel Scheduling (MCS), which allows users to schedule and monitor e. g. ingest jobs from a Web GUI, integrating with a wider range of devices, including Quantel sQServers and IPV encoders.
| Multiformat Browse Support: Media Archive's Multiformat Browsing Architecture (MBA), which includes Browsing Client VP/VPE and Video Analysis Service, is enhanced to also support WM9 browse proxy (using IPV technology for read-while-write and frame-accurate navigation), in addition to the MPEG-1 and MPEG-4 formats already supported by MBA. MBA allows for the combined use of MPEG-1, MPEG-4, and WM9 of same frame rate - all on the same timeline.
| MAC Support: Media Archive includes a fully functional Web client for Safari, enabling MAC users to search and retrieve content, share queries, collections and EDLs, browse video and create EDLs.
| Folders in Workspace Management: Media Archive's Workspace Management (WSM), a collaboration and workflow support tool, has been enhanced to include "what's new" folders for automated periodic queries to the Media Archive database and Order Folders for submitting collections and EDLs for processing by machine-based and/or human workflows. This adds to WSM's existing capabilities for sharing queries, collections and EDLs, accessing devices and databases and viewing the status of jobs and processes.
| Enhanced EssenceManagement: Media Archive's Essence Management keeps track of all media file (essence) locations wherever they reside, e.g. on disk systems, FTP servers, Video Servers or tape-based storage systems. With Essence Management, managing and streaming multiple proxy formats, multiple storage levels and storage locations becomes easy. The EssenceTransfer Management allows manual as well as automatic, rule-based transfer of essences between all locations.
| Essence Server XDCAM: Essence Server XDCAM facilitates import from Sony's XDCAM devices. It allows users to "see" the content of XDCAM devices and import the essence files into Media Archive via simple drag & drop operations.
