The MassComp project is discussing the fields of compression, storage, transmission and conversion of multi-media mass data.
It focuses on the identification of methods and procedures to optimally deal with such data in diverse application and to test these methods. The project results will directly be deployed in the MediaEnvironment project.
The project is analyzing five technology fields being essential for the computer-aided processing of digital audio and video data:
- Mass data compression
- Mass data storage
- Mass data transmission
- Format conversion.
The project consortium consists of five partners responsible for different tasks: Südwestfunk (SWF) and the Süddeutscher Rundfunk (SDR) covering the user side, Professor Jondral, University of Karlsruhe as research partner and TECMATH, Wagner&TaunusFilm und ELTEC providing technological input.
